Bedroom greens

I love this bedroom. The wall is similiar to our wall color. I could play up the greens like they did...all the time keeping the shabby feeling intact!!

We bought a couch...

...and a chair and an ottoman. It is the Pottery Barn Basic Grand...brushed canvas, color: stone. New it was $4200, and they priced it at $2700 for it all, including a collection of Pottery Barn throw pillows. We ended up getting it for $1500! I'm thrilled!!

We got it from Craigslist. Yippee! And, in the process, we met 2 of the nicest people I have had the pleasure to know since we moved here. Dawn is adorable, and Rusty is sweet. Lovely couple.

This blog is AWESOME!

Life in the Fast Lane. She paints it all white. And it is beautiful! She lives with white. Happily.

I want that Rachael Ashwell sofa. I do. And buckets and buckets of white paint.

Here are some examples...

More wonderful things...

Mostly just looking through the gazillion decorating blogs I've recently discovered. Here are some pictures from them.

The 'counter-table' is a wonderful idea. Plus look at that chandelier!

A bit of whitness...and another chandelier.

I like how there is a table coming out of the counter.

The table is against the counter...would work for me!

Refinishing

I want to refinish things. By things I mean everything :-) I'm joking. I think. I want to refinish our Mexican pine armoire and coffee table. I'm in love with this finish. It is Caromal Colours (very European...Color with a U). This particular chest was done with Caromal Colors textured base coat in parchment, which is what I would use. LOVE it!

Goodwill for a glorious $12

How simply shabby. How simply chic.

Stairs and chandelier

Looking for inspiration, I came A Beach Cottage - Just Inspiration. It is page after page of wonderful decorating ideas.

A cool blog with even cooler ideas...

More decorating inspirations...One is a post or two from The Old Painted Cottage. The first is Cottage8: the living room. Then there is Breaking the Rules and The Dining Room. Here is a grand finale, Before and After pics. I'm loving the flooring. They used Trafficmaster Allure flooring from Home Depot in Country Pine. I'm thinking wood may not be what I want to do. Anyway, you get the idea. Here are some other ideas:

Home designs I love

Bumble has me going. I'm looking at homes and decorating ideas. Since it is getting late, I'm only going to post the homes I like and do decorating ideas another time. Anyway, decorating ideas is more of an ongoing thing. So, without further ado, here are the homes I really love, in no particular order.

Each link takes you to the original site where you can see the interior layouts.

Barrier Island Escape
This home’s floor plan capitalizes on the seascape. The two-bedroom, two-bath design features one large space that incorporates living, dining, and cooking areas, backed by a bevy of windows.

Bayfront Cottage
With its expansive wraparound porches, raised foundation, and split stairway, Bayfront Cottage draws architectural inspiration from French Colonial styles.

Bayside Retreat
Straightforward and superefficient, Jim Pfaffman's 1,500-square-foot, two-story Bayside Retreat can sleep 10—all in rooms with a view. It would be at home anywhere.

Bayside Wharf
The open layout of this classic coastal design suits an informal beach atmosphere and accommodates large family gatherings.

The Key Cottage
With plenty of outdoor areas and a tower to capture panoramic views, this raised cottage—designed in the Lowcountry vernacular—capitalizes on the best of waterfront living.

Cottage of the Year
This plan takes inspiration from summer camps and family houses that expanded as needed. Two areas off the main house serve almost as separate cottages.

Inlet Retreat
When an architect designs a house for his family, you know it's going to work. The Inlet Retreat is such a house.

Shoreside Homestead
This one-and-a-half-story plan permits owners to live on one level, with guest accommodations upstairs. Wide, sweeping porches wrap the home’s exterior and extend living spaces outward through a series of French doors.

That is my list tonight. There are other great home designs, but I had to draw the line somewhere. Some of these homes have been in my portfolio (teehee) for ages...remember we have been subscribing to Coastal Living since it's inception. Also, that is not saying that these homes are perfect. Although, most of them are pretty darn close. Maybe when I feel refreshed, and not blurry from home looking, I may go back and post what I would change or what I really like about each house. But, that is for another day.
